Arts Alliance Austin (?)

Yesterday a bunch of friends and I went to this huge artist festival down off Cesar Chavez and spent the entire afternoon looking around- and I must say I was on overload.

As my bf said on several occasions "geez babe, you're all horned up for art..".. Wow, yeah, guess i was.

I think I signed up to get on a million mailing lists, and got a million cards from folks that I liked, and I'll be weeding my way through them over the next few weeks. I'll be sure to post some of my favs on here for you to enjoy too!

In other news- I'm thinking of starting a little herb garden out on my balcony. I get a good bit of sunlight, and as long as I keep them watered during our brutal summers, I think I could get some really good stuff from them. Will keep you posted!

In some good news- I got my tax refund check in- HOORAY, and I'm finally able to do some things that I've been putting off.

1.) Getting new contacts

2.) Buying a sewing machine (YESSSS!!)

3.) Taking a vacation... hello, inspiration & relaxation

4.) Getting some old artwork framed

This is a piece that I have been moving around for the last 2.5 years. I finally dusted it off and decided to get it framed up real nice to hang in my house. I had seriously forgotten what the image was until I looked at it a second time. It makes me happy- I love it and i haven't even been able to enjoy it until now.. It will be a nice addition to my bedroom.

In other news- it's been kinda rainy out, and I finally got around to giving myself a pedicure the other night. Soaking in the tub and reading a book.. I had almost forgotten how good that feels as well... soothing to the soul. Afterwards, I pained my toes a bright fluorescent orange- Yay! Funny how sometimes the smallest things can make the biggest difference.

my sewing machine..

I own a sewing machine... and I haven't used it in over a year.. and that makes me sad.

I need to find more time.. more time to do the things I love, the things I miss doing. I miss making things.. jewelry, clothes, bags, wearing scarfs, knitting, cooking. This blog-rejuvenation is intended to re-vitalize my crafty soul.. for I fear I have lost touch with her over the last few years.. (Grad school can do that to ya..)

SO- A toast-- to bringing that back.. whether it's in the kitchen.. at the sewing machine..attempting a new hairdo. it's gotta start now.

because this is better than packing

I hate hate hate packing and moving.. 

my apartment is an utter wreck.. and the cat is loving every minute of it.

I'm already living in a rather small space, and i'm moving to an even smaller one (will post pics later)

dwelling on this, and packing up all the stuff I own.. I am beginning to realize that i seriously  need to downsize all the stuff I own. 

Simplicity is the key.. now, whether I'll be able to stick with it is important.
